13TH TO 17TH OCTOBER 2011 — MUMBAI — GBC MEETINGS

BHAKTIVEDANTA HOSPITAL

October 13 —  We went with His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Guru Maharaj again to Bhaktivedanta Hospital. We would go only to be in the morning at the hospital. Arriving Guru Maharaj took darshan of Srila Prabhupada murti which is situated at the Hospital entrance, paid his respects and a garland made by local devotees.

Guru Maharaj was then directed to the second floor. He was there for about an hour and at the end discussed with Drs most results observations or general checkups and this is his last visit. The discussions lasted for almost another hour and finally suggested that Guru Maharaj  wanted to break his fast which he had fasted for some of his tests.

Guru Maharaj then left and decided to break their fast in the car on their way back to the temple, so did not want to wait.  Back to the temple is  continued their activities for the rest of the day. Meetings, lunch and rest. In the evening he gave a class at the temple.

JUHU TEMPLE — The activities of 14 and 15 were mainly

GBC meetings — By now most of the international GBC had arrived. So the general meetings were at the beginning. Guru Maharaj  participates  in all these meetings and yet continues to shower DVTs mercy to those who want to get  darshan. With his physiotherapist Gopa Kumar he continues to do  therapy. Some of his secretaries assist with email.

On day 15, and Madhava Kanta and Mahavaraha  spent nearly all day buying tickets for Guru Maharaj's next travel. By GBC Decision the general meetings continue in Vrindavan after October 21 and they all travelled there. I heard that Guru Maharaj  would travel the 22 to Delhi and from there to Vrindavana. After Vrindavan, the 25 Guru Maharaj will go to Malaysia. This trip is already confirmed, since the tickets were purchased.

After the afternoon break Guru Maharaj participated in another meeting and at night after taking darshan of the Deities at about 9pm gave class on the Bhagavad Gita in the hall of the temple. This day we walked through the therapy corridor of the building where we are guests. At about 10 pm, and in his room, his physiotherapist made him do a little more practice therapies. One of these was throw a large ball used for exercise and Guru Maharaj was to grab it with his hands. Guru Maharaj was successful in grabbing on several occasions. Around 11pm he took his night's rest. The Guru Maharaj's lotus feet still swell and the threat of infection still remains. It also has plenty of red dots on them. We are doing our utmost to prevent the injuries not to arise with different oils and medicines. We also applied some bandages.

On the 16  October – Guru Maharaj woke up at about 5:45 am and told me he wanted to wake up early , so I called Mahavaraha. The morning activities, apart from regular activities, was the general meeting of the GBC. At about 1:30 pm the end of the meeting was led into a room where he had a chat and gave darshan to a large group of devotees from another part of India who had come especially to have  holy association. Then he took his lunch, in the small hall where devotees do the bhajan and was so full of devotees who had to wait outside his room to take his darshan afterending his prasada. Because there were quite a few willing devotees awaiting for darshan, rest period for the afternoon was delayed a bit.Guru Maharaj returned to his room at 9:35 pm. At the last meeting we had with the servants, we changed the schedule of shifts. My fixed night shift starts at 9 pm and ends at 5 am the next day. I always joke with the other servants when I show up late in my shift. Especially if Guru Maharaj  does not  come to his room on time. So Ruchi said he was 35 mnts later.  I said that my shift starts at quarter of Guru Maharaj and Guru Maharaj had reached 35 mnts late for my shift.

As we were making final arrangements to put to him to rest Guru Maharaj noticed something odd. Guru Maharaj also yawned as he spoke and his body trembled a little. When we stopped I asked if his chair was cold. He said yes. We raised the temperature control A / C room to 25 degrees. Guru Maharaj immediately told us to quickly put him to bed and on the way he began to sneeze. Guru Maharaj was actually feeling chill. We put him in bed and try to cover it with a sheet and blanket. Daresh brought one of their winter hats. Also we put a sweater. Other servants rubbed his hands and lotus feet to warm them. Gopa Kumar kept telling him to relax. It was a moment of anxiety for us all. To my mind came the memory of what happened the last three years exactly in this place. Mahavaraha entered the room and measured the blood pressure. It was a little high. He also took his pulse and blood sugar levels.

These two were normal, after 20 or 30 mnts Guru Maharaj was now more relaxed. Sneezed a few time. Practically everything went back to normalcy. Gradually the other servants left the room and were Mahavaraha called a doctor at Bhaktivedanta Hospital and Drs recommended a fever medicine. Mahavaraha went to his room.

Gradually he was falling a sleep. The time now is 5:00 a.m. this new day 17 of Oct.  Everything was back to normal.
